2012 Nürburgring 24-Hour Race
‘STI NBR Challenge 2012’ Shakedown Run for the WRX STI at Fuji Speedway
Tokyo, 13 February 2012 - Subaru Tecnica International Inc. (STI) today announced that the company will put the SUBARU WRX STI race car to the test in a shakedown on Saturday 18 February at Fuji Speedway in preparation for the Nürburgring 24-Hour Race (NBR) which takes place from 17 to 20 May in Germany. STI announced their framework for participation in the 24-hour race at Tokyo Auto Salon on 13 January.
The competition car for this year is based on a vehicle which received a long-awaited SP3T class win in the 24-hour race last year, with added features from the S206 -an STI Complete Car as well as significant modifications. Through the introduction of more carbon body parts, lightweight parts around the rear suspension and lightweight wire harnesses, as well as the use of lighter drive and propeller shafts, this year's car is 20kg lighter than 2011 specifications and thus closer to the minimum weight required in the regulation. This year's car will therefore be even more competitive than last year.
The two drivers who will be trying out this competition vehicle for the first time have been named as Toshihiro Yoshida and Kouta Sasaki. They will have a chance to drive the car around Fuji Speedway circuit for one hour, both in the morning and afternoon.
Furthermore, dealer mechanics, who usually work at SUBARU dealers as service personnel, will join this shakedown session to check work procedures and master their pit work skills in order to prepare for the NBR 24-hour race. This year's six dealer mechanics are as follows:
Hitoshi Kojima from Fuji SUBARU (Gunma), Tomotada Hayakawa from Saitama SUBARU, Yuji Tanaka from Tochigi SUBARU, Tomoki Takahashi from Kanagawa SUBARU, Yoshihito Toi from Chiba SUBARU and Kenji Nakamura from Osaka SUBARU.

WRX STI NBR Test
Subaru Tecnica International Inc. (STI) put their WRX STI to the test at Fuji Speedway on Saturday 18 February in preparation for the 2012 Nürburgring 24-Hour Race. Despite frozen track surfaces from some snowfall on the previous day, the course had dried up by noon and the afternoon shakedown session took place as planned, much to the relief of the team.
STI Team Manager Hideharu Tatsumi had this to say to the press who attended, "Many people probably think we won our class in last year's NBR by a fluke, and so we believe we won't be able to come out on top again without making a serious effort. So, we've identified various issues we should solve and made a strenuous effort in further weight reduction. As a result, the car is now lighter than the required minimum weight of 1200kg. Making the most of SUBARU's characteristic low centre of gravity, we'll try to meet the weight requirement of the regulation. We'll take part in the race on a new note and aim for a repeat victory this year. I strongly believe, if we win for the second time in a row, we will be able to prove it wasn't a fluke last year and demonstrate our capability to the world."
Driver Toshihiro Yoshida added, "I feel relieved that we finished the shakedown of this year's NBR Challenge car without any problems. I felt the car was light and our times have also improved. So, I was able to predict the behaviour of the car on the Nürburgring course during the actual race. My feeling towards the car is very good and I cannot wait to drive it in the race. Everyone in the team will work together to please the SUBARU fans around the world. I hope for their support."
Kouta Sasaki further commented, “First of all, the pickup on this car at the middle-speed range has improved, so the feel during acceleration is very good. I also felt that the car is faster especially at high-speed corners thanks to further weight reductions and the lower center of gravity. I think I can drive while feeling safe at Nürburgring. Our fans can expect a good run from us."
After the shakedown, the NBR Challenge car will be transported to Germany and take part in the VLN 4-hour race at the Nürburgring circuit on 28 April in order to decide on the best setups for the 24-hour race.
Auf der Homepage habe ich keinen Plan gefunden wo man so Parken kann?
Gibt es ein Shuttleservice wenn die Füsse zu dolle wehtuten?
